Biography:

Lee Jen-der received her Ph.D. (History) in 1992, and is currently a Research Fellow at the Institute of History and Philology, Academia Sinica, Taiwan. She examines legal and medical history from a gender perspective and teaches at several universities. Most of her work focuses on early imperial China, but she has recently extended her interest to women’s encounters with law and medicine in modern East Asia. Her publications include two books, four edited volumes and many articles. She served as the editor of Asia Major for seven years and is now board member of a number of academic journals.
