The population of Silver-haired银发族in China and Taiwan currently is growing faster than in European contexts before. The theme of “different ageing” is thus tightly connected to the issues of local biologies, the coexistence and interactions between various professional segments, newly emerging vulnerabilities due to increasing numbers of Cognitive Impairment (Dementia etc.) and to corresponding necessities and shortcomings in terms of care and life quality. With a strong focus on (biological) processes, (interpersonal and institutional) relations and (social) pattern in their actual making in regard to ageing I aim at exploring the oscillation between the biochemical processes and cultural concepts (such as “filial piety” (xiao 孝) in China.
