Sascha Klotzbücher

Biography:
Sascha Klotzbücher is a post-doctoral assistant professor at the Department of East Asian Studies at University of Vienna. He graduated with a MA degree in Modern Chinese Studies and Political Sciences from University of Heidelberg and a Dr. phil and a habilitation from University of Vienna. He specializes in studies of social policy, health, and governance in modern China. He published two monographs: Das ländliche Gesundheitswesen der VR China: Strukturen – Akteure – Dynamik” (Rural Health care in the People’s Republic of China: Structures – Agents – dynamics, published in 2006 with Peter Lang publisher) and Lange Schatten der Kulturrevolution: Emotion und Politik in einer transgenerationalen Perspektive (Long shadows of the Cultural Revolution: transgenerational perspectives on emotion and politics, publised in 2019 with Psychosozial Publishing House) and articles in The China Quarterly, European Journal of East Asian Studies and others. During the academic year 2011/12, he was Erwin-Schrödinger fellow at Stanford University and a Taiwan Fellow at NCCU in 2016. He has a strong interest in modern Chinese society and ageing and has conducted several field studies in rural areas of China on rural industrialization, health care, and ageing. During his stay in Taipei in 2016 and 2017, he conducted field studies and research with a more comparative approach including Taiwan, China, Germany and Austria.
